Santa at the Depot: Drive-Thru Edition

Come experience a special Santa at the Depot: Drive-Thru Edition this year. To keep Santa and everyone safe, we are hosting a limited event at the Museum. Drive down Ave B in front of the Museum to enjoy the displays, see the gingerbread exhibit, and wave to Santa. Bring your letters to Santa and drop in the special mailbox. Each child in a vehicle will receive a special goodie bag created by Santa’s Elves!

Is there a fee to the event or registration?

This event is free to the public and no registration is required.

Where is the entrance?

The entrance for the event is located near Whistle Stop Park (W. Central Avenue and S 11th street) and will wind thru the TISD lot and enter Ave. B from the Amtrak lot. See map.

Speed limit &  car safety
The speed limit is 5 miles per hour max and drivers must go with the flow of traffic. Please be alert of the driver in front of you, as the event will be stop and go.

Guests must remain inside their vehicles at all times to maintain a safe event. No riding in the bed of a pickup.

For guest safety, all tailgates, van/car doors, and hatchbacks must remain closed at all times.

Convertible’s with tops down are fine, but doors must remain closed and passengers must remain inside the vehicle.

Participants in a vehicle must be members of the same household and cannot change vehicles during the gathering.
What to expect along the route

Santa at the Depot: Drive-Thru Edition is a fun-filled short adventure which includes; seeing Santa, holiday-themed displays, dropping your Christmas wish list off in Santa’s mailbox, a drive-thru scavenger hunt, and receiving a goodie bag from Santa for each child. Goodie bags for children present in the vehicle only.

Santa will be located in front of the Railroad and Heritage Museum. For everyone’s safety, there will be no photo’s on Santa’s lap this year or touching of Santa. Photos of Santa in front of the Museum can be taken from your vehicle.

The health and safety of Santa, the Elves, and our participants is our #1 priority. To minimize contact, you will be provided with a goodie bag with take-home crafts and treats. No crafts will be available in the lobby.

No restrooms will be provided along this route.

To ensure maximum opportunity for everyone, please limit trips thru the line to one time.

Social Distancing Safety Rules

Masks or Face Coverings
Consistent with the actions taken by many individuals across the state, we ask guests to wear face coverings (over the nose and mouth) at the outdoor event when within 6 feet of another person who is not a member of the individual’s group. Medical masks, paper masks, fabric masks, and bandanas are all acceptable face coverings. 

The City of Temple has taken enhanced health and safety measures for event attendees and the Event Staff.  While attending the event you are expected to follow all posted instructions.

An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people gather. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and possibly death. According to the CDC, older adults (65 years of age and older) and persons with underlying medical conditions might be at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19.

We care deeply about the safety of our attendees, participants, and staff members, therefore before and while attending this event please be mindful of the following:

  • Be Symptom Aware - if you or someone in your household feels ill, has a fever or cough, please do not attend this event.
  • Maintain Distance - as you enjoy this event please maintain 6ft from others.
  • Practice Good Hygiene - wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
